Previewing a digital asset

You can see a preview image (thumbnail) of a digital asset in a selected point in the digital asset hierarchy.

You can preview an asset only if your login has an access level that allows you to view an asset.

To see a preview of a digital asset

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Choose Assets from the navigation pane.

The Assets page displays. The digital asset hierarchy appears under Directory.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Use the Directory hierarchy to locate the asset you want to preview. Refer to Navigating the digital asset hierarchy for information about navigating to a particular directory node and digital asset.
    • Use Search Assets by Name to find the assets (for more information, see Searching for assets).
  4. Move the mouse cursor so the cursor hovers over the name of an asset.

The name of the asset is highlighted. One of the following happens.

    • If the digital asset has a defined Internet Media Type of “image,” a preview image (thumbnail) of the asset appears.
    • If the digital asset has a defined Internet Media Type other than “image,” and no preview image is available for the asset, the asset’s media type icon displays. For example, if the digital asset is a text file, a text file icon displays.
    • If the digital asset’s media type is not defined, no preview image is available for the asset, the asset is a URL, or no digital asset is attached to the metadata, the “No Preview Available” message appears.

Note:  If you want to view details for the highlighted asset, choose the name of the asset. (See Viewing details of a digital asset for more information.)

  5. To close the preview image, media type icon display, or message display, move the mouse cursor from the asset name.
